Volunteering can be one of the most effective and most fulfilling ways to meet new people and build your network circle. Other volunteers and non-profit staff will share the affinity of the cause with you and may be potential sources of job leads, career advice and mentorship. Most of these contacts would be happy to help a dedicated volunteer!

Live your passion. It will come through in every aspect of your business dealings. From communications and being a recognized “expert” in your field, to customer service and being recognized for your integrity. You will build rapport, respect and a loyal following, whatever your “brand.”

Show your cards. Business cards are a great way to show your professionalism and desire to keep in touch with the people you meet, and they are increasingly popular among career-minded students. Don’t worry if you don’t have a title or company; just print simple, professional-looking cards with your name, phone number and email address and, if you’d like, your college and major.
